But an essential part of the home modelling scenario, you will also get used to the unique terminology in good time. The 8 commonly used cabinet terminology terms will be of great advantage to you. These include:

Base Cabinet

These cabinets sit on your kitchen floor. They can be placed against the wall as a standalone assembly.

Wall Cabinets

These cabinets are wall mounted above the base cabinets.

Sink Base Cabinet

A sink base cabinet has no actual drawers so that a sink can be comfortably installed.

Oven Cabinet

This cabinet is tall allowing room for installation of a separate wall oven.

Kitchen Work Triangle

The refrigerator, oven, and sink form the kitchen work triangle. An almost equal distance between the three allows you to work without excessive walking,

and yet keeps the appliances at a safe distance from each other so that an open door is not an obstacle.

Specialty Cabinets

Designed with a specific purpose in mind, these specialty cabinets are most popularly used for pantry, linen, trash and microwave cabinets.

Fillers

“Filler” is a term used for a board that can be used during the cabinet installation to fill spaces between cabinets and walls or other cabinets.

Cabinet Construction

There are in fact two main types of kitchen cabinets. Both solid wood and composite cabinets often have solid wood doors and drawer fronts. While a solid wood cabinet costs more than a composite cabinet, it lasts longer and is less prone to damage from moisture.
